DevOps Engineer and MySQL DBA

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage, monitor and maintain company databases (primarily MySQL)
• Ensure database security, integrity, stability, performance and system availability
• Provision, monitor and operate cloud services in a globally distributed team, in a cost-efficient manner
• Analyze and solve operational issues and respond to incidents. Includes the ability to troubleshoot complex SQL queries
• Participate in on-call rotations
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement continuous improvements

Required

Our ideal candidate would have/be all of the following:

• Experience with MySQL databases and querying with SQL
• Experience working as DevOps Engineer, Developer or Systems Administrator working with Linux environments.
• Experience with source control systems such as Git or Subversion
• Experience with one or many major cloud service providers: AWS, GCP or Azure
• Comfortable configuring and supporting Linux based servers and applications.
• Not afraid of the Command Line, Bash scripting and configuring applications such as Apache, Nginx, MySQL etc.
• Comfortable with virtualization technologies such as Docker, VMs, function as a service or Kubernetes.
• Critical thinker with a passion for engineering and service excellence
• Ability to multitask and handle various projects, deadlines and changing priorities
• Good communication skills and capacity/willingness to work in a multi-teams environment.
• Strong motivation to learn, teach and grow

Desirable

• Experience with PHP 8
• Experience with Data warehouses such as Snowflake or BigQuery
• Experience working with collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Slack
• Experience with Jenkins, Bitbucket, GitHub
• Understanding of Agile and other development processes and methodologies
• Understanding of and ability to balance the pros and cons of microservices, SOA and monolithic applications
• Understanding of Data Engineering infrastructure
• Experience with security (ISO 27001, PCI and/or HIPAA)
• Knowledge of monitoring processes and tools is an asset
• Bilingual English/French
